Man killed in Hardin County accident identified

HARDIN CO., Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Kentucky State Police are investigating an accident that happened on Ky. 447 (S. Wilson Road) in Hardin Co. on July 3 at 4:30 p.m. that killed one man and injured two other people.

According to police, Richard C. Lawler, 37, of Eastview was traveling southbound on Ky. 447 on a 1983 Kawasaki KZ750 motorcycle. Michael H. Friedrich, 27, of Renfrew, PA. and Michelle L. Joseph, 28, of Fort Knox, Ky. was traveling northbound on Ky. 447 in a 1997 Ford Mustang.

KSP said, for unknown reasons the vehicle driven by Friedrich crossed the center line into the southbound lane striking Lawler on his motorcycle.

Lawler was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin Co. Coroner’s Office, according to KSP.

According to KSP, Friedrich  was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital by ambulance with non life-threatening injuries and Joseph was airlifted by AirMethods to University of Louisville Hospital.

Police said the accident is still under investigation.
