LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The search for those responsible for the death of a Bardstown Police officer is taking a new turn.

It's been almost six months since 33-year-old Ofc. Jason Ellis was murdered when he was ambushed on his way home from work Memorial Day weekend.

Investigators are now turning to social media to renew public interest in the case and said they hope anyone with information will come forward.

WHAS 11 news was there when Kentucky State Police went back to the exit ramp off Bluegrass Parkway where Ellis was gunned down. They were there not to investigate but to make a video.

KSP-TV produces short videos, on everything from training exercises to safety awareness,  and now, a public plea for tips leading to the arrest of Ellis’ killers.  They plan to put the video they shot Wednesday on You Tube.
