LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Even though the work is already begun, the final lawsuit that could have stopped work on the Ohio River Bridges Project has been dismissed.
The lawsuit was originally filed in 2009.
The advocacy group, the Coalition for the Advancement of Regional Transportation, or CART, claimed states broke U.S. Civil Rights Act by discriminating against minorities.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet responded with this statement:
"Judge Heyburn's ruling affirms what the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has always believed - that extraordinary care has been taken throughout this project to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws."
