COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- A judge in northern Kentucky declined to issue a gag order in the case of a one-time Ben-Gals cheerleader charged with having sex with a student when she taught at Dixie Heights High School.

But, Kenton Circuit Judge Patricia Summe admonished attorneys in the case of Sarah Jones, 27, to avoid tainting potential jurors as the Oct. 10 trial date approaches.

The Kentucky Enquirer reported that prosecutor Sara Farmer asked for the gag order after Jones went on the radio talk show of her attorney, Eric Deters, in July.

Jones is charged with using her position of authority to coerce a student into engaging in a sexual relationship and sending him inappropriate text messages. Investigators say Jones had sex with a 17-year-old student between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31.
