LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Kids from Johnson Traditional Middle School planted flowers around a memorial for four teens killed in a car crash after a Youth Alive event back in December 2008.

Marc, Demar and Jamar Claybrooks and Aron Shields died after riding in a stolen car driven by Herbert Lee. Lee was fleeing from police and crashed in to a tree. He was later arrested and convicted of manslaughter.

It's a lesson outside the classroom for Johnson Traditional students as part of the Mayor’s Give A Day program.

WHAS11’s Brooke Katz was with students as they worked, click the video player above for more.
