JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) - The Director of J.B. Ogle Animal Shelter in Jeffersonville is defending his shelter.

This comes after Lynda Sylvester, who visited the shelter last week, took pictures of kennels filled with feces, urine, and vomit.

Director Harry Wilder says the pictures taken early last Monday morning, before all of the kennels are regularly cleaned.  Wilder says it had been 24 hours since the last cleaning, but also blames lack of money and manpower.

Jeffersonville Mayor, Tom Galligan, says he visited the shelter after he received the pictures and says it was clean and is standing behind Wilder.

Tuesday, mayoral candidate Mike Moore, sent out a press release saying he wanted the mayor to demand the immediate resignation of Wilder.

Moore claims his actions are not politically motivated, but both the Mayor and Wilder feel differently.
