LOUISVILLE, Ky (WHAS11) -- The Jefferson County Teachers Union released their recommendations today to help improve 18 persistently low achieving public schools in Louisville.

The union is suggesting that the school day be extended to make sure there is enough instructional time to properly educate students.

They are also talking about bigger salaries for more experienced teachers if they go into these low-performing schools.

The education commissioner has been extremely critical of the district's response to address these schools.
