LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Jefferson County Public Schools is suing a national bus manufacturer involving nearly 400 buses.
The suit claims Navistar International sold them buses with engines that had serious mechanical problems including defective wiring and overheating.
It also claims Navistar failed to repair the buses. But despite the problems district officials say the buses are still safe; they will be on the road by the first day of school on Aug. 20.
The lawsuit seeks a reimbursement of the money the district spent on repairing the buses in addition to any future repair costs.
When we reached Navistar at its corporate headquarters in Delaware; they told us they don't comment on pending litigation.
