JCPS student arrested after fight, threats over cell phone

(WHAS11) -- A JCPS student was arrested at his high school for allegedly assaulting a teacher and stating threats.

According to court documents, Garrett Worful was arrested Friday at Southern High School on Preston Highway. Police say his teacher asked him to stop using his cell phone in class. He then threatened his teacher to the point where the teacher had to leave the classroom for her safety. When officers arrived, they say Worful continued to fight when school officials and police.

Police were eventually able to get handcuffs on him and take him to jail.

Worful is facing Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Terroristic Threatening, Resisting Arrest and Trespassing charges.
