LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It's a whole new world in kindergarten classes these days as kids are becoming more tech savvy at a younger age.

The first week of school is in the books for Jefferson County Public Schools and some of their youngest students are going high-tech in the classroom - they even have i-Pads!

A grant helped to supply the classroom with not only i-Pads, but i-Pods as well. Several middle school and high school classrooms also have the gadgets.

But the high-tech gadgets extend learning beyond the classroom –WHAS11's Renee Murphy has more on how they are doing to stay connected to parents throughout the day, just click the video player above.
