LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- For the first time, the woman who left her newborn baby in a Kohl's bathroom is having her side of the story heard.

Jessica Price gave birth to her baby at the store where she worked in Hillview.

In recently released police interviews, we hear her tell the story in her own words.

The interview lasted more than two hours, but she explained to detectives that she was hiding the fact that she was pregnant and ran to the bathroom at Kohl's because she was working and began having cramps.

She said that was when the baby came out and she believed that it was dead so she placed it in the garbage can.

The detective then replied that another woman in the restroom heard the baby cry.

Price then explained to the detective that she planned on returning to the store to remove the baby, but by the time she did, police had already arrived.

Price is charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.

Her attorney could not be immediately reached for comment.
