(News Release) -- The Bus Stop Cafe is a JCPS bus that has been modified to serve as a mobile cafeteria and will be visiting locations where meals are needed and a sheltered serving area is not available. This is the only mobile cafeteria of its kind in the state and will help bring food to needy students who face the challenge of finding transportation to Summer Food Service sites.
"This is about meeting students and their needs wherever they are," said Hargens. "By eliminating the transportation barrier, we are providing students the nourishment they need to be healthy and active in the summer months."
The Summer Food Service Program provides free, nutritious meals to children 18 years of age and younger throughout the summer. The program began on June 10 and ends on August 9, 2013. Currently, JCPS has 60 sites throughout the district that offer meals.
