(WHAS11) -- Two people were hospitalized Saturday after they were thrown from their jet ski at a high rate of speed on Patoka Reservoir.
Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a personal injury boating accident that occurred around 2 p.m. Saturday near Goose Island on Patoka Reservoir.
Leslie Ash, 32, of Louisville was operating a jet-ski at speeds over fifty miles per hour in rough water conditions when she hit a wave and went airborne dislodging the passenger, Preston Barrett, Jr., 14, of Louisville
Barrett impacted the water at a high rate of speed and was transported by air to Kosair’s Children’s Hospital in Louisville with head injuries.
Ash landed on the watercraft and was then thrown into the water. She was transported by air to University Hospital with back injuries.
Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be involved in the accident.
Both occupants were wearing life jackets, which Ind. Conservation officers say played a role in this being an injury accident instead of a fatality.
