RIPLEY CO., Ind. (News Release) -- Three people were arrested Saturday in connection with the murder of a 68-year-old Indiana woman.
Indiana State Police investigators arrested three individuals Saturday afternoon in connection with the murder of 68-year-old Nancy Hershman in Milan a week ago.
With the assistance of Colerain Township Police, Allison Moore, 22, and two 16-year-old males from Colerain Township in Cincinnati were arrested at their residences without incident.
Investigators determined the incident was a random act. The suspects were driving around when they decided to break into a home. Once inside they were apparently confronted by Mrs. Hershman and during the confrontation, Mrs. Hershman was shot and killed.
Indiana State Police Detective Sergeant Tom Baxter expressed his gratitude to the Colerain Township Police Department for their outstanding cooperation and assistance in locating and apprehending the suspects in the investigation.
Moore is being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center in Cincinnati on a preliminary charge of murder. The two male juveniles are being held in Cincinnati on juvenile charges in connection with the murder.
Formal charges are expected to be filed either Monday or Tuesday in Ripley County.
The investigation is still active and could result in more arrests. No more information will be released at this time.
