INDIANAPOLIS (WHAS11) -- A top Indiana lawmaker says details of what the state's budget will look like will be emerging in the next few weeks.
House Speaker Brian Bosma says he expects the House Ways and Means Committee to approve a budget shortly. It will likely include more money for education and transportation than Governor Mike Pence has requested.
Bosma hasn't said exactly how much would be spent on specific programs.
Lawmakers must also decide whether to approve a tax cut of about $500 million that the governor has requested.
That money would come from a surplus left by former Governor Mitch Daniels.
