HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A 6-year old girl is in critical condition after being ejected from a car during an accident in Hardin County and her father is facing charges.

The accident happened Thursday around 7:30 p.m. near the 128 mile marker on Western Kentucky Parkway.

Kentucky State Police said the car's driver, Joshua Farrar of Indianapolis, was trying to avoid debris in the roadway when the car cross the median, left the road and hit a tree before landing in a ditch.

Farrar’s daughter, 6-year-old Mya, was thrown out through the car's back window. She was transported to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville where she is recovering.

Farrar was charged with possession of a suspended operator's license, no insurance, and a booster seat violation. Police said it’s possible Mya’s seatbelt was not buckled.
