Police in eastern Indiana are trying to figure out why a 5th grader ended up with $10,000 in cash.

Police in Delaware County say the boy handed out about $300 in cash on the bus ride to his school in Selma just east of Muncie.

They say the children who received the ones, fives, and twenties told teachers and the principal who called the sheriff.

The boy was found with the rest of the $10,000.

Police say he had taken the money from his grandparents' safe but they're not certain what he intended to do with it or how he got into the safe.
