(WHAS11) - Hundreds gathered at Indiana University to remember a professor who was stabbed to death in his home earlier this week.

IU students, colleagues and community members lined the sidewalk to remember Prof. Don Belton with a candlelight vigil.

The English professor was found dead inside his home on Monday.

25-year-old Michael Griffin was arrested shortly after the crime.

He allegedly told police he murdered Belton because he sexually assaulted him.

Griffin pleaded not guilty to the murder and is being held without bond.
