LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – On Tuesday night’s 11 at 11, reporter Johnny Archer investigates why families were stuck living in deplorable conditions.
Multiple families lived in single dwelling homes in the 2700 block of West Market Street in the Portland neighborhood.
The families lived in homes where they often had no electricity because they say the landlord didn’t pay the bill forcing them to use the oven to heat their home during the cold weather.
There were many other violations that Metro Codes and Regulations issued, like connecting extension cords from one home to another to feed electricity.
“We had no electric. If we do have electric, there would be days that it would be randomly shut off,” tenant Leah Pierce said. “Our water is not necessarily our water. We’ve been told that it’s ran from someone else’s water system.”
We’ll show who investigators are now looking into after we started asking some tough questions and what the city has to say about the problem.
