I-64 lane closure in Shelby County scheduled for Jan. 22

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (NEWS RELEASE) – New bridge beams are being delivered this week for the Interstate 64 bridge over Bullskin Creek in Shelby County .  This bridge is being replaced as is part of the I-64 widening project between Simpsonville and Shelbyville (mile points 27.9 and 32.8).

To accommodate placement of the new concrete beams, the right lane of eastbound I-64 will be closed from 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22 until 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 23. 

Access to the welcome center and Exit 32 to Shelbyville will be closed during this work.  Motorists can travel to Shelbyville via Exit 35 further east. 

The construction project, which will widen this section of I-64 from four lanes to six lanes, is scheduled for completion in late summer 2014.
