(WHAS11)—An early morning accident Monday on the Gene Snyder Freeway left one person dead and another injured.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Jacob Diehl.  He died of multiple blunt force injuries.

The accident happened just before 3:00 a.m. Monday on I-265 east between Beulah Church Road and Bardstown Road.

Police said a black Chevy Cobalt hit the back of a white SUV causing the SUV to flip.

Diehl was pronounced dead at the scene while the passenger of the SUV he was driving was taken to University Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Sgt. Robert Biven, Louisville Metro Police Department, said they are still trying to figure out what caused the crash and they do not believe alcohol to be a factor.
