LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Authorities said a fire that started in a abandoned home in the Portland neighborhood jumped to two others before it was contained. Neither people in the homes or firefighters were hurt but one family of five living in one of the homes said they weren't sure if they would be able to live in the home again because of the damage.
It happened on St. Xavier Street and took several firefighters awhile to contain. People describe hearing the popping of what they thought was thunder only to come outside and see the homes on fire.
Arson investigators were looking into squatters starting the fire in the abandoned home, but that was not confirmed as the cause. LG&E was also on scene, as firefighters believe there was no electricity to the home in which the fire started.
The third home in the fire sustained minor damage to the siding according to firefighters.
