LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It appears the legislation that could change the school calendar in Kentucky due to snow days could take a while before it reaches Governor Steve Beshear's desk.

In Frankfort on Thursday, March 13, the snow day bill advanced in the Senate Education Committee.

On Friday, the Senate Education Committee was supposed to continue talks on the plan, but another vote did not happen.

The bill would allow some of this year's snow days to be waived in the state.

JCPS has missed eleven days so far this winter, but some districts in the state have missed more than 30.

The committee's vote on Thursday was said to not be much help for districts who already have plans in place to make up the missed days.

A version of the bill passed the House earlier this week.

Talks on the planning will continue.
