LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Ky. Governor Steve Beshear met Thursday with officials at University Hospital to discuss how the proposed hospital merger can move forward.
University Hospital is trying to find out how a state-supported hospital can be part of the merger after Beshear rejected the proposed plan.
University of Louisville President James Ramsey was also at the hour long meeting. No details on the meeting were revealed.
Jewish & St. Mary's, St. Joseph and Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives did not attend the meeting.
Citing a concern that the state would lose control of a public asset, University Hospital, Beshear rejected the merger last Friday. Attorney General Jack Conway had also issued a legal opinion consistent with Beshear's conclusion and recommended the deal not be accepted "at this time."
