LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Michael Chester, 27, will be laid to rest on Thursday, but on Wednesday afternoon his wife and daughter we’re involved in a car crash on the way to his viewing.
“It's definitely very hard because now it's not just Michael it’s their entire family,” said friend Holly Kramer.
Kramer said Mallorie, 3, was thrown from the vehicle and underwent surgery at Kosair Children’s Hospital. Police said Ashley Chester suffered non-life threatening injuries. As of Wednesday night, Mallorie was listed in good condition at Kosair.
Neighbors and friends said both mother and daughter were at home when Chester was shot on Monday morning at his apartment in the 4900 block of Saddlebrook Court. Police have arrested 18-year-old Darrell Jackson in connection with the crime. They said some type of altercation led to the shooting.
“Darrell Jackson I have met once before. I know Michael considered him a friend,” said Kramer.
Jackson is facing charges of murder and tampering with evidence.
