LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Healthy living isn’t always easy and it certainly isn’t cheap for some.
The West Louisville Community Festival and Health Fair hosted an event at Redeemer Lutheran Church to educate those looking for healthier lifestyles and services.
The fair provided dozens of services free of charge including cholesterol, asthma, diabetes and blood pressure screenings as well as HIV testing.
Health professionals also educated patrons about nutrition, obesity, strokes and heart attacks.
“What we try to do is present an atmosphere where they have fun, they learn about their community and they learn about how to stay healthy,” Dr. Karen Krigger of UofL Family Medicine said. “No one likes going to the doctor so we try to make this an easy way for you to check up on your health.”
People who also attended the fair could sign up for a library card and get registered to vote.
