LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Lawyers for Hardin County Schools refused to say why they suspended one of their principals in May 2013.

Mark Thomas was the principal of New Highland Elementary School in Elizabethtown.

He was suspended after some unknown allegations surfaced.

WHAS11 has gotten word the district will not release their investigation files because Thomas' attorney is threatening legal action against the district if that happens.

Thomas has now resigned from his position.
