LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- After much anticipation Louisville's first H&M opened on Thursday, Nov. 14, at Oxmoor Center. At 12:00 p.m., hundreds of frenzied fashionistas rushed in.
Tracy O'Dowd was in line for more than 15 hours. In fact, she and two friends slept in a tent outside the mall.
"We came prepared. We brought gloves, hand warmers, a tent. It wasn't awful," O'Dowd said.
It was a party for the first 200 people in line. They got scratch offs ranging in value from $10 to $300, plus a goodie bag. But the real prizes were inside. Five hundred fifty people were allowed in at noon. And the line to get in wasn't the only one. On its first day open, shoppers stood in lines that snaked throughout the store to get to the cash registers.
Blogger Danielle Davis of “Lou What Wear” came out on Thursday for the economical necessities and some trendy clothes.
"I'm looking for the basics and some stand out pieces that will fly off the shelves," Davis said.
Like many others, Davis is thrilled that this retailer now has a home here in town.
H&M offers women's clothes, menswear, children's clothes and accessories. They're known for their affordable prices and on trend designs.
