(WHAS11) - A group of college students are asking people to give up their religious text for pornography.
The event is called "Smut for Smut" organized by an atheist group at the University of Texas in San Antonio.
Their argument is that porn is no worse than what's written in religious text.
Some students find the demonstration offensive but the organizers say it stimulates religious discussions.
“It's just not something that you should offer...It shouldn't be traded in for porn,” says student Keisha Davis.
“We've been able to have many different discussions...Pretty good reaction for the most part,” says Atheist Agenda member Carlos Morales.
University administrators were asked to ban the event but declined saying it would violate the group's first amendment rights.
This is the fourth year the Atheist group has hosted "Smut for Smut."
