LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — Forget the big-time NFL match-ups, a Louisville football tradition continued on Thanksgiving that included youth, women and grown men.
The Juice Bowl is a tradition that goes back 50 years and a crowd still gathers at Shawnee Park to see the annual competitions.
Organizers of the event said the games are more than just football, they act as a homecoming.
Waddell Elliot said he remembered playing in the games years ago.
“The younger guys out here, hopefully they’ll be stepping up when I’m not here and they can continue this to go on,” he said.
The early games featured the younger generations, followed by a flag football game for the women in the afternoon, then came the men’s semi-pro match-up this evening.
