Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - The case against two former University of Louisville football players will go to the grand jury next month.

Twins Isaac and Jacob Geffrad are charged with felony assault after a locker-room fight following a U of L football game in October.

Fellow player Patrick Grant says the two attacked him and caused serious injuries which led to two surgeries.  He is no longer able to play football.

The Geffrads' attorney says they were hoping for an agreement on lesser charges today, but prosecutors wouldn’t agree to it.

"I believe this is a fight that just went bad,” says the Geffrads’ attorney, Derwin Webb.  “I've spoken to these kids -- they are good kids.  This is a fight that just went awry. they are paying for those consequences now.”

The twins have been kicked off the football team and are no longer students at the university.  The case goes to the grand jury the week of March 14.
