LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It is better than a business card. With just a few clicks, Google Street View is taking internet users inside local attractions and businesses.
“Any kind of retail shop, restaurant, and any kind of tour attraction is perfect for this because it gives people a chance to check it out ahead of time,” Google Manager Rob Davis said.
Guitar Emporium knows it's not just sounds that sell guitars-- what you see makes a difference too. That's where Google comes in--literally.
“This is giving local business owners a great opportunity to showcase the character and the charm that makes this business who they are,” Chris Sardinas said.
Chris Sardinas is part of the CS3 design team that uses a fish eye lens to capture these panoramic views. Here's an example of the product at a boutique in Sarasota, Florida. The cost? A modest onetime fee based on square footage. Prices start at $499.
“We'll shoot a 360 degree virtual tour using Google Street View technology we start from the outside; we work our way inside and we'll go anywhere that business owner wants,” Sardinas said.
The high definition images are on Google in roughly one week. They give those at home an up close and personal look of their potential future destination.
“When you go there you'll already know what the place looks like; you can just park and go in,” Davis said.
It gives business owners a professional portfolio they can keep. If you’re interested in Google Street View coming to your business, email them at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (502) 821-2594.
