LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A huge garage sale was hosted on Frankfort Avenue to help make wat for the new cottages at St. Joseph’s Children’s Home.
The thrift store garages were full of furniture, household items and clothing and members of the community showed up to find a bargain.
“It’s a great way to benefit everyone in the community. People got rid of stuff they no longer wanted, we get to come look through it to find things we want and it helps out St. Joe’s by giving a chance to earn money to the kids so the community can reuse it so its recycling at its finest which is what Louisville’s great at,” shopper Angel Porter said.
The garages are expected to be leveled next month to make room for new, modern homes for dozens of children.
Construction on four new cottages will begin later this year.
