LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Many people who attended this year's Fandom Fest, are labeling it a “fandom fiasco.”
Heather Jones took her niece on Saturday. She says the majority of her day was spent in various lines and the expo had a multitude of problems.
“Lack of organization, the staff didn't seem to really know what they are doing, the schedules were wrong,” Jones said.
Jones spent $130 for a photo with some Walking Dead stars, waited for four hours to get the picture taken, then was told to come back an hour later to retrieve the photo. Five hours later she came back.
“We stood in that line for well over an hour and we were finally told that we were not going to get our photos,” Jones said.
The internet is buzzing with complaints from both locals and from people who traveled hours for the expo and were sorely disappointed especially with the photo ops. Some celebrities at Fandom Fest weren't happy either.
On Saturday, the CW's “Arrow” star John Barrowman blamed organizers at his Q & A for poor scheduling and botched photo ops.
“You must ask for your money back. OK? You must ask for your money back. Don't let them just keep your money. Their fault,” Barrowman said.
Dr. Who's Colin Baker addressed fans on Twitter--one tweet stated, “Fandom Fest communication was awry, the string between the two cans broke, I think.”
Fans says they want this event to stay in Louisville, but they want changes.
“You would really hope that they would take it, learn from it and try to grow in that way. Right now it just seems like take the money and run,” Jones said.
Fandom Fest organizers sent us this statement on Tuesday, July 30, "As with all conventions, there are growing pains. We try hard to bring the celebrities to this region for the fans. While we do acknowledge there are some things that need to be handled better, we also made thousands of people very happy."
