LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) A former top executive of Lexington's Blue Grass Airport has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of conspiracy to commit theft by deception.

John Slone, airport's former director of planning and development, had faced a felony theft charge stemming from hundreds of thousands of dollars in expenses that executives billed to the airport. The charge was reduced as part of a plea agreement that requires him to testify against other defendants.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Slone faces up to 12 months in jail and/or a fine of not more than $500. Prosecutors recommended a 12-month jail sentence, but no fine.

Slone, who appeared in Fayette Circuit Court on Friday, is among four former airport executives facing theft charges. The airport board forced the four men to resign in January 2009.
