LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Family and friends came out to Atria Senior Living to celebrate George Anderson’s 100th birthday.

Anderson served as a lieutenant in the Navy during World War II as a meteorologist on board the USS Chandler in the South Pacific.

He has lived at Atria Senior Living in St. Matthews for ten years after the death of his wife of 54 years. His daughter Penny Brill says he gets up every day, gets himself dressed and shows up for three meals a day. She also says Anderson plays bridge every week.

“I’d like to say clean living but I think it’s just because he’s very intelligent, exercised, eaten well, [and] he was a tennis player until 5 years ago,” she said.

Anderson has 5 children, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
