FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Flags at state office buildings were lowered to half-staff Sunday in honor of former state Rep. Dewayne Bunch, who died Wednesday.
Bunch, of Williamsburg, was a schoolteacher and represented the 82nd District.
He was injured in April 2011 when he intervened in a fight among students at Whitley County High School, where he taught math. He was struck by a stray punch and hit his head on the floor of the school cafeteria.
Gov. Steve Beshear directed flags be flown at half-staff on the day of Bunch's funeral, which was held at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Williamsburg.
