LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A family of seven is safe after a fire heavily damaged their apartment building.

The fire happened in the 100 block of East Burnett Avenue when officials say heavy flames spread in the apartment building.

The owner of the complex in Old Louisville wasn’t there at the time but the building was full of tenants. No one was hurt.

Fire officials say the building sustained heavy smoke damage.

There’s no word on a cause.
