(WHAS11) -- We were there Thursday morning as employees at the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, Ind. returned to their jobs after the shutdown.
It came just hours after the president signed the debt bill into law.
Workers were pleased to be back on the job after 16 days of furloughs.
“I'm glad to be back I really am because you know you can't go out in the private sector and get the stability that you got and they'll get it straightened out they do all the time,” Brenda Burr, a Census Bureau, said.
Workers at Mammoth Cave also returned to work on Thursday. It re-opened with barricades being removed and lunch was also served. Tours resumed as well.
