WASHINGTON CO., Ind. (News Release) – A fatal accident in Washington County on State Road 56 West, just west of Possum Hollow Road, killed two people on Wednesday morning.

A 2008 Chevy driven by 39-year-old Thomas Gegner, of Paoli, Ind,. was traveling east on S.R. 56 when a second vehicle traveling west, driven by 65-year-old Pamela Goldman, of English, Ind., went off the road on the right side and lost control of her vehicle. Goldman’s vehicle then went left of center and into the path of Gegner’s vehicle.

Goldman was pronounced dead at the scene. Goldman’s passenger, 56-year-old Carol Roser of Leavenworth, Ind., was taken to Washington County Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Goldman was a long-time school bus driver and Carol Roser was a school aide. Both of them worked for the Crawford County Community School District. Goldman was driving a school owned vehicle after dropping off a bus load of students in neighboring Washington County.

The transportation director for Crawford County says the tragic crash has hit the district hard. Several of their relatives work for the school district. Some young students are also related to the victims.

Gegner, the driver of the other vehicle, was also transported to the Washington County Hospital, but he was treated and released.
