LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Louisville Cardinals fans had their chance to peek at the floor from this year’s national championship in Atlanta during the first Red and White scrimmage of the 2013 – 2014 basketball season.
Some of the pieces featured an autograph from head coach Rick Pitino.
Pieces of the floor were sold for as low as $50 and fans say it’s a great souvenir from an amazing season.
“Probably the best one I’ve seen so far, souvenirs I bought,” fan David Cralle said.
“What we’re trying to do is offer people an opportunity to touch the pieces, take a closer look at them because you don’t have that opportunity online and then buy them and take them home with them today,” Northwestern Mutual Chief Marketing Officer Chris Brice said.
Proceeds from the sale will go to pediatric cancer research at Kosair Children’s Hospital and at the University of Louisville’s Department of Pediatrics.
Pieces are also sold online starting at $99.
