LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It's been one year to the day since a young father was killed tragically in the Portland neighborhood; the day before Christmas and the killer responsible for the murder hasn't been arrested.
Twenty-year-old Charles Fambrough's family spoke out on Dec. 24, 2013, in search of answers into what happened Christmas Eve in 2012 with a reminder to the public, they still are waiting for justice.
On this Christmas Eve when so many are celebrating the holidays. The family of Charles Fambrough is still grieving his loss.
"We are all truly broken because he was the light. He was sweet, he was innocent, he didn't do anything to anybody," Megan Brown, Fambrough's Fiancé, said.
Fambrough was shot multiple times on Portland Ave and 24th Street. He was looking forward to a new job at UPS and raising his 1-year-old son William and looking forward to a new future with his fiancé Megan.
“I have to go through this for the next, well the rest of his life. Tell him about his daddy. It’s not gonna help the situation because a child should know his," Brown said.
What happened that night remains a mystery. Fambrough left his mother’s house on Portland Avenue to walk his younger sister home, but he never returned. And his killer has never been brought to justice; the hardest thing for this family to accept.
"And for you to take him away? Why? Why did you have to take him away. What did he do to you?
