LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The family of the young woman killed on Joe Prather Highway earlier this week is thanking Kentuckiana for their support.

It was a terrible crash Tuesday night when Kyle Thompson allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and three children in a mini-van.

The mother was able to escape, but Gibson crossed the center line, crashed into Ashlee Berry who was driving home from work at the Troll Pub in Louisville.

She was killed in the crash. The three children continue to recover in Kosair Children's Hospital.

Berry was about to be married to her fiancée, a soldier at Fort Knox.

On Friday, June 6, her family released this statement: "As heartbroken as we are to have lost our light we know that she lives eternally in peace with God.”

They also said “…we wish to take the time to thank the people of Kentucky for caring for her and for us."

They also went on to say they are praying for the three children still hospitalized.
