LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A civil suit was filed against the Advance Ready Cement Mix company after a fatal wreck at the foot of the Clark Memorial Bridge.
Ryann Tewell, who worked at Humana, was struck and killed as she crossed the street, with the light, in June.
The driver of that Advance Ready Cement truck was turning right with a green light and police say he didn't see her.
The lawsuit claims Advance Ready-Mix Concrete’s driver made a right turn, “without due regard for the safety of pedestrians with the right-of-way in the crosswalk, including Ryann Tewell, and otherwise operated his vehicle in a careless and negligent manner.”
They do not demand a specific amount of money. WHAS11 contacted Advance Ready-Mix Concrete for a comment on the lawsuit, but have not heard back.
“As a result of the negligence… Ryann Tewell was injured and killed; was caused to suffer great pain and mental anguish; incurred medical expenses and funeral and burial expenses; and lost her power to labor and earn money,” the lawsuit said.
Surveillance video shows Tewell was hit by the truck and dragged before onlookers told the truck driver what happened.
An attorney who filed the suit said the family wants evidence preserved and witnesses questioned before they forget details.
He says they want answers about what happened to their daughter. The lawsuit was filed on June 24.
