NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) -- An early morning fire at a New Albany apartment building could have been much worse if not for the efforts of an alert family who knocked on dozens of doors to wake sleeping families.
Ken Corley and his two sons awoke to the flames before 5 a.m. Corley was sleeping on the couch and quickly woke up his kids and then went to 24 doors at his building and the one next door.
The Corleys lost everything in their home. Twelve apartments in all sustained some kind of smoke, fire, or water damage.
No one was hurt. Firefighters don't know the cause of the fire.
