Bedford, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Dozens lined Highway 42 in Bedford, Ky. to say goodbye to paramedic and firefighter Mike Rexroat.

The procession after his funeral contained more than a dozen first responder agencies, many who knew and worked with him.

Rexroat was on a motorcycle on Aug. 11 when a truck driver turned in front of him. Rexroat hit the truck and was thrown from the motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet but was flown to University Hospital in Louisville where he died.

Mark's wife is an EMT and was the first responder on scene in an ambulance. She didn't know the accident victim was her husband.

As is customary for deaths of first responders, firefighters brought a 50 by 30 foot flag which surprised Mark's family and friends. They saluted with their equipment at their feet. It was all preceded by the final call from dispatch, where Mark's unit number as firefighter and EMT was transmitted for the final time.
