LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)--  The Commonwealth of Kentucky is putting the familiar, red clapboard Hoge House in downtown Frankfort up for sale.

The historic home was build in 1825 and sits on more than a quarter of an acre on Wilkinson Boulevard.

The Commonwealth acquired the house in 1973 from a private owner.  It has been home to various state agency offices since then.

Site visits are scheduled on January 8 and January 15.  Bidding will begin on January 22.
