(WHAS11) -- Facebook is doing much more than bringing old friends back together.  Some say social networking can get way too friendly for people who are married and are linking sites like Facebook to an increase in divorces.

WHAS interviewed a man who is brand new bachelor, but doesn't want his identity revealed.  He says Facebook led to his divorce.

This man’s ex-wife went to her high school reunion and saw an old flame, but the meeting didn't stop there.  His wife and the old flame started to message each other through Facebook.  The divorcee says he went into her account, saw inappropriate messages and the marriage went downhill from there.

He says, "Facebook creates a lot of temptation."

An attorney who spoke with WHAS has heard similar stories.  He says, in the past, “If there was an affair in a divorce case it was usually a co-worker that was involved. Nowadays, it's just as likely to be somebody from an entirely different city and a lot of that has to do with Facebook and how easy it is to reconnect with old flames."

Facebook and other networking sites can be major tools when it comes to divorce cases.  Posted pictures and comments can be used as evidence in court.

The attorney says Facebook is more of a medium than a motive behind a divorce.

One study showed that Facebook is being cited in about 1 in 5 divorce petitions.
