LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- The World Affairs Council of Kentucky and S. Indiana  hosted an event on Wednesday night on Bellarmine's campus to discuss the global issue of human trafficking.

Area experts were joined by Theresa Flores, a survivor of human trafficking, to address the global problem of cruel and dehumanizing practices of sex slavery.

Flores said she was still haunted by the difficulties of being a sex slave and now works to help other victims.

“I’m still haunted by them, but it’s also something that’s more important to spread the message and educate people than it is to stay inside, buried away,” she said.
