ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) -- Elizabethtown Mayor Tim Walker has died at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was 54.
Walker was in his first term as mayor of the central Kentucky city, having been elected in 2010. He served as a city councilman for more than a decade before his election as mayor.
The cause of Walker's was released around 3 p.m. Friday and the coroner said he died of a massive heart attack.
The hospital released the following statement:
"It is with deep sadness the we inform the community of the passing of Mayor Timothy Walker this morning at 5:33 am at Hardin Memorial Hospital. At this time please keep the Walker family in your prayers. At the request of the family, please respect their privacy. Funeral arrangements will be handled by the Brown Funeral Home."
